When you look at this shower, what do you notice?  Probably that there is no curtain or doors.  No, this isn’t a mistake it was designed to be open. I feel this is a great example of naturism. That the human body shouldn’t be hidden behind a door or curtain, but should be open for all people to see. Plus, it doesn’t have a draft and feels great too!

i saw on a home makeover type program, a holiday home by the sea, where the bathroom walls could slide open and the roof retracted back into the house.

ok it was a really expensive holiday home.

the bath was a cool old-fashion design. what a great way to enjoy  a moonlight soak listening to the waves on the beach below!!! (sigh - one day, when i become a rich and famous artist)

I'd love to have an open bathroom like that. Don't think my landlord would like me tearing out walls though.

I've seen pics of bathrooms where the whole bathroom is tiled and is functional as a shower.  My goal for a bathroom too.

Ryan, those ones you posted are fantastic.

I posted a thread with an unostentatious family shower that had a floor (ground level) to ceiling uncovered clear glass window overlooking the side/backyard.

Most new high end homes have large curtainless double showers in the master bathroom off the master bedroom, but they are rarely placed in a location accessible to the whole family, i.e. off a hallway or near the pool, and if on the first story (i.e. at grade) almost never have a clear glass window to the yard. They sometimes have thick clear glass blocks that distort the view in/out.

Traditional Japanese houses have a large family bathtub, with the entire bathroom tiled, with a floor drain, for showering. You shower before getting in the bath. Communal family bathing is still common (though certainly not universal) until children approach puberty.

Yes there was another post about the open bathroom.... its been several months ago. But i do remember that as well. I think that open bathroom plan is a wonderful idea. I love to not be confined and such....

Pretty cool

My ultimate goal, when I'm done paying off college is to build my own home. I'm always on the look out for new ideas.
