I posted a thread with an unostentatious family shower
that had a floor (ground level) to ceiling uncovered clear glass window overlooking the side/backyard.
Most new high end homes have large curtainless double showers in the master bathroom off the master bedroom, but they are rarely placed in a location accessible to the whole family, i.e. off a hallway or near the pool, and if on the first story (i.e. at grade) almost never have a clear glass window to the yard. They sometimes have thick clear glass blocks that distort the view in/out.
Traditional Japanese houses have a large family bathtub, with the entire bathroom tiled, with a floor drain, for showering. You shower before getting in the bath. Communal family bathing is still common (though certainly not universal) until children approach puberty.
