NEWARK, Ohio — Central Ohio authorities have filed felony charges against a 15-year-old girl accused of taking nude cell phone photos of herself and sending them to high school classmates. Police say the Newark Licking Valley student was arrested Friday and held over the weekend. On Monday, she entered denials to juvenile charges of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and possession of criminal tools. A spokeswoman for the Ohio attorney general's office says an adult convicted of the child pornography charge would have to register as a sexual offender, but a judge would have flexibility on the matter with a convicted juvenile. A prosecutor says Licking County authorities also considering charges for students who received the photos. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,434645,00.html

1. She's not an adult, and she took the pictures so it's not child porn. 2. She's the one who sent the pictures, so the students who got them did nothing wrong.

Now I can see them pressing charges against the girl who sent them (NOT saying that I agree with that) but for receiving the photos? If they did nothing with the photos after receiving them and deleted them what kind of possible charges could there be????? Not trying to be a smartass but trying to understand!!

And the downward spiral of absurdity continues in the US. Where is common sense... why is "zero-tolerance" such an accepted practice in things such as this???

Guess I have to turn in my son, since he took pictures of all of us when he grabbed my camera long ago. I didn't know I was harboring a child pornographer!!!
Hmm, should probably turn my mom in too, since she had pics of myself and my cousin in the tub, CLEARLY showing my genitals, which is one description of child porn.
Oh, and my grandmother. And myself. And pretty much all my family, friends, neighbors.
That is one reason I don't shop @ walmart if I can avoid it, because of their immediate reporting of 'child pornography' when you take in your pics of your three year old with her top off. WTF is this place coming to?

It makes you want to SCREAM !!!
I'll give you a bet plenty of those so called authority folk quite like to view some real porn, but they go so OTT over relatively trivial stuff,.geez, the absolutely stupid reaction to such as innocent baby pics ( and it has happened in the UK too ) being a prime example.

I have also noticed a coalation between the people that preach against (religiously or not) or fight hardest against such (at least male wise) seem to be the ones that secretly enjoy it the most, and feel bad, and fight. Kind of like the gay bashers, the ones that go beating em up are afraid they are. I strongly believe if we lived in a naturist society, or at least a non-crazy anti-nudity society, there would be less rape/incest/peeping toms/etc. If you see a bunch of boobs all day you are not going to go crazy to see some more JMHO.

In actuality it's not all that common, sad to say. I have also noticed a coalation between the people that preach against (religiously or not) or fight hardest against such (at least male wise) seem to be the ones that secretly enjoy it the most, and feel bad, and fight. Reaction formation.

Unfriggingbelievable! Is America becoming like the middle east? A 15 year old can be a child pornographer for taking nude pics of herself. OMG, I'm beyond stunned! They should charge the prosecutor with stupidity.

what does it say about a society where the laws we enact to allegedly 'protect' children can land them behind bars?

there should be constitution articles demanding that laws are only written down with their reasons and that they are to be taken into account when enforcing them.

Reaction formation. Most of the time I think Freud is a wacko, but I've got to grant him Reaction formation. Cases like this are absolutely ridiculous. Zero-tolerance is like movies where the bad guy kills a henchman who does something wrong.
