I found this to be quite interesting:

The technical quality of that film/video is remarkable.  It makes you realize just what a step backwards youtube is. Yay for veoh!

As for the content... it was fine except for the tacky remarks about the heavy woman.

I wonder what the psychological exam to join covered.

Did naturist clubs formally exclude nonwhites, or did naturism appeal only to trendy upper class whites in its early days?

Great find, Art, well done.

I took the narrator's comments as a little tongue in cheek, he was making fan of the tubby & being non-pc here, & tubby myself  Embarrassed, I didn't find them offensive.

Actually, I think this video could be used today as a way of helping others realise naturism is a very normal, fun activity. 4 million participants in the States in the 30's; wonder what %age that was of the population back then? I see AANR (www.aanr.com) say that 18% of the current population are interested/would like to visit a naturist club/facility. I thought it might have been higher than that but, I guess a 1-in almost-5 ratio is pretty impressive.

That was a very good find there.  To answer Doug's question

the population (according to good ol' Wikipedia) was 123 million back in 1930 so about 3%.

I realized that the remarks were supposed to be funny, and initially, the narrator mentioned the inclusiveness and acceptance of naturism. But then the silly remarks just went on and on and on. In that respect, it reminded me of some really bad nature shows about sea lions or gorillas.

Other than that, it really was very good for the era.

I thought it was excellent aside from the insensitive comments about the larger woman. It presented the concept in a pretty fair and supportive way.

Fascinating video. Everyone seemed so happy and enjoying their care free life style. Also amazing to see part of the history of naturism with real people instead of just reading about it. Great stuff and thanks for sharing  Smiley  :)William

Wow...that really was a pretty darn good video.  I wonder they did ever make it to the worlds fair in New York?  What is really incredible to me is the fact that during that period of time that would have been played before or between a movie at theater like a commercial nowadays.

It was also interesting to listen back into time when people spoke discretely but political correctness wasn't even thought about yet.

BTW SunMeBum- I think the whole might have been stagged.  Roll Eyes

Kudos to artinprogress for finding this unique gem.
