Yes, definitely. There would certainly be side effects to worry about. I've only heard of those drugs being used on adolescents following circumcision or other surgery (which would be very short term use) or to delay/extend puberty if a boy's height is seriously lagging the age-height chart. Getting slightly off-topic, I heard a doctor (Leonard Sax, MD, PhD, author of Boys Adrift) who claimed that a study showed that the testosterone level in boys today is lower and sperm count in young men is half of what it was a couple of generations ago. I am extremely skeptical of that claim, but I was wondering if you had heard anything about that. He attributes the reduction to Bisphenol A from plastic bottles, among other causes. EDIT: I've edited the paragraph above for accuracy. Here's an exact quote from Dr. Sax: The average young man today has a sperm count just about half what his grandfather had. His testosterone level is lower as well. That’s a major focus of the book: how endocrine disruptors in the environment have had the effect of emasculating many boys and young men. nationalreview.com

That is interesting....I haven't heard that before. They don't teach us stuff like that in residency.
I'm interested in stuff like that, if fascinates me how mankind screws themselves with their greed. The bottle scenario is possible. Another likely overlooked player is the meat/cattle industry. It is "cost effective" to beef up your cows, so they feed them all kinds of growth hormones. You can't do that and not have some of it trickle into....us. Artificial growth hormone is....no good. Puberty occurs earlier today than it did in the past. Testosterone levels are lower you say....and another scenario is exogenous testosterone, which would provide testosterone to your body, but through negative feedback inhibit the body's own production of testosterone, therefore lowering the overall serum level. Growth hormones are also closely related to Insulin-like Growth Factors (IGFs), which play a DNA level role in regulating metabolism in various forms but more specificly INSULIN. We have a slow growing Diabetes II epidemic in this country, without an obvious cause (besides speculating that America eats to much and stays too fat). But that is only the meat industry....
Produce....our fruit is old by the time we get it, yet it is still somehow fresh fruit? What are they spraying on that to keep the bugs off?
Beverages..... caffeine is a drug. It is not recommended to ingest much caffeine during pregnancy......or alcohol, or smoke, or do drugs. But "energy drinks" are the thing now, more more more, free energy? Nothing is free. And I guess the plastic bottles are harmful too.
Fast Food.... McDonalds $1 menu? Absurd. You can eat 100% of your caloric intake for the day for less than the price it costs in gasoline to drive to and from work. Insanity! Why is all the junk food so cheap and all the healthy food so expensive?
We COULD blame big business for putting our collective health in harm's way.....BUT.....
We are such a greed driven country that focuses on quantity over quality that we do it to ourselves, again and again.
Bon Appetit.

Because, to put it simply, you get what you pay for.

i dont think you should go about taking meds to try to block your testosterone. you have it in your body for a reason and if you really want to be able to hang out nude without getting an erection just do it all the time until you dont even think twice about being nude. messing with your hormones cant be good for a young person.

I'd definitely not want to mess with the hormones of a teenage male. But you have to weigh the risks and benefits. If this guy is off the charts to a toxic level, where it is affecting his tendons, causing painful erections (infarction from hypoxia), then likely it is affecting other things, like his heart, his blood pressure, etc. Too much testosterone also can be a big risk for cancers and if chronically untreated will shorten a person's lifespan. So the answer to the guy's question is that the medicine to block testosterone does exist. But the ONLY person who should try to navigate that water is an endocrinologist who has plenty of experience in developmental/adolescent endocrinology. The guy who posted this may never write back....but it is a curious condition that we may never know the outcome of. Or....could be a guy who just wanted to made up an elaborate tale so he could say the word "erection". Your advice is perfect. Ignore it, and it will stop trying so hard.

He doc, can u answer something, it has confused me. He said his ligaments are growing faster then his bones right, can u explain how that is painful. im not saying its not anything, i don't know, but just to my mind, I can't figure out where the pain is coming from. I would have thought the bones growing faster then the ligaments would be painful.

I sing guns and roses knocking on heavens door.
What?? singing knocking on heavens door when u get an errection?? i hope the angel is not going to fet freak out when she open the door. just kidding haha! i thought i make some comment... na...errection is fine, as long as u are not doing something stupid people around you. i know a lot of nude familes, they dont make it an issue. so when u get an errection u suppose to chop it off? well, women get that too when their nipples are going hard, isnt considered as errection too?? just a thought and its a very authentic thought haha..maybe it doesnt make any sense...errection is not necessarily pervet, cos even when wearing jeans, i used to get errection in my class when i was at high school. and i was hopping that my teacher is not going to ask me to stand up on my feet and notice my trousers sticking out and say whats that in your pants? and i would say a stick, and the teacher would say, ok, take it out and throw it on the ground, and it turn into a snake. haha, it reminds me of the story Moses casting the stick on the ground when God commanded him and it turn into a snake so, wht i am saying is, even when cover up, i still get erection from time to time..so i dont think its to do with sexual. same as when women's nipples going hard it may be to do with sensitivity or just the cold etc...

I wouldn't really worry about it to much. If you are confidant with yourself then everyone will be a lot more easy-going around you. If you are all worried then people are going to be a little more uptight around you. As long as you are not deep in a sexual convo then i don't see the problem and if it was me you was around someone who has had two kids and feels washed out i would be flattered more then anything even if it was not mean like that. But maybe that is just me.
