Hey dude,

Yeah i can't wait for the warmer weather to return to head back down to Maslin. I can only hope that it will be around the same time next year, with everything on in Adelaide, ie Australia Day test cricket and tour down under, i would have to give it a miss, which sucks. So lets hope they organise for Feb again.

Hope to join you down there, before the Olympic day anyway!!

I travelled over to Maslin on the first attempt this year. Pity it was that one in 50 year storm came as well!

I could not make it back for the second date, and I really can not commit to next one. But if I am around, sure I will be there!

Hi All,

I have just been on the sun website, which is the organisation that organises this day. It sounds like next year could be the last nude olympics at maslins due to money being low. Cry
the following pdf file explans it better than my attempt.
http://www.southernunitednaturists.org.au/sun%20home_files/Olympics%20Letter.pdf

Talk to you all soon. KYM

YNAI would love to help but we are in the same boat, low on funds.

Hi there,

Is there any wealthy YNAI members in Oz that could save the MBO ?

I wish I was as i like many other Maslin beach regulars to the nude olympics would hate to see it stop..

Cheers,

I think it is not happening due to expenses.

It says on this page that they werent. http://www.messengernews.com.au/article/2008/01/23/3551_city_sports.html

The Olympics are off, budget stripped
POTENTIAL Olympians turning up to Maslin Beach last weekend would have been disappointed to find the beach naked. We speak of course, of nude Olympians, not the pros. Unfortunately for sporting-keen naturists, the annual Nude Olympics were cancelled this year. The Southern United Naturists, who have run the Olympics since it started more than 20 years ago, cancelled the Sunday event because they could not afford to meet the financial demands. Club president, who wanted to be known only as Shane, said it cost about $2000 to hold the event, which covered prizes, food and drinks, council fees, advertising and tent hire. He said a crowd of more than 1000 spectators usually converged on Maslin Beach each Olympics to watch up to 100 competitors shed their threads and battle it out on the sand.

Unfortunately it didn't go ahead this year due to low funds but I've just read in AS+H ( http://www.ozsh.com.au/index.html) that the ANF ( http://www.aus-nude.org.au/) is looking into sponsoring it for next year. So while 2008 didn't happen it may be on again in 2009 fingers crossed.

Cheers
