Due to the one in fifty year weather condition at Maslins yesterday, the Maslin Beach Olympics had to be postponed, below is an extract from an email I received from one of the organisers:

"The scene that met us this morning was one of disbelief. The rain had persisted and winds were still gusty but the weather forecast was for moderating winds and rain easing. A few of us from Southern United Naturists and Pilwarren had camped at the caravan park the night before ready to battle the elements the next day but the winds blew from the West all night causing a king tide and the beach was completely flooded all the way to the cliff face. We were prepared to go ahead, even with the rain and the wind but without a beach the decision was made for us.

Our president Shane who is a regular beach goer had never seen the tide as high. I have included a couple of photos to show what we were confronted with this morning. It's ironic that the day we were due to have the 2007 Maslin Olympics was on the weekend where Adelaide had its 1 in 50 year rain weekend.

As we have spent considerable money and the trophies were ready and the prizes has been organised, we decided not to cancel the event but postpone it two weeks to Sunday February 4th starting at 11-30pm.

Here are some pictures that were supplied to me by the organisers who were there.

Oh wow!

Sorry to hear about the postponement Casey, and I hope it goes as planned next go around.  Yeah that tide looks very high.  But it goes up to the cliff face on a regular basis doesn't it?  When me and Mark were there there was sea clutter all the way up to the rocks.

Cheers

Hi Tim

Not really, the tide has never been that bad that I have seen, yes it comes up near the cliffs but very low tide, this from my understanding had the waves splashing up the cliff face.

Yeah,

It was disappointing as I had come across from Melbourne to go. Not sure if I can get over for the 4th. :(

Well I thank Mark and Mark for Their hospitality and Casey efforts.

Well the event was help yesterday in 43c weather, I unfortunately was unable to attend due to a family crisis but will be expecting some reports, and pictures later this week.

It made the Chanel 7 news here as well as the local news paper, The Advertiser.

Was enyone on here able to go? I'm sure the 43c stopped a few people.

What was the report on 7 news like, I’m guessing a few of the normal jokes like "bare essentials” and such.
