Due to the one in fifty year weather condition at Maslins yesterday, the Maslin Beach Olympics had to be postponed, below is an extract from an email I received from one of the organisers:
"The scene that met us this morning was one of disbelief. The rain had persisted and winds were still gusty but the weather forecast was for moderating winds and rain easing. A few of us from Southern United Naturists and Pilwarren had camped at the caravan park the night before ready to battle the elements the next day but the winds blew from the West all night causing a king tide and the beach was completely flooded all the way to the cliff face. We were prepared to go ahead, even with the rain and the wind but without a beach the decision was made for us.
Our president Shane who is a regular beach goer had never seen the tide as high. I have included a couple of photos to show what we were confronted with this morning. It's ironic that the day we were due to have the 2007 Maslin Olympics was on the weekend where Adelaide had its 1 in 50 year rain weekend.
As we have spent considerable money and the trophies were ready and the prizes has been organised, we decided not to cancel the event but postpone it two weeks to Sunday February 4th starting at 11-30pm.
Here are some pictures that were supplied to me by the organisers who were there.
