Seems abit of a contradiction in terms, but what do you do if you are enjoying yourself naked, but need to go somwhere or do something where you dont want to be seen naked. BUT you want to keep the feeling of being naked, or want to gt back to being naked quckily (so dont want to dress properly).

This is an issue that has raised itself with me lately. I was spending some nude time at home alone recently, and found I needed to go outside to do something. Now this was broad daylight and in full veiw of the neighbourhood. I could have just dashed out and hoped for the best but I didnt really want to give anyone around a free nude show! I didnt want to get dressed just for a few minutes, and looked for something to cover up with but found everything I has was a little too short for comfort. I ended up putting a coat (it was raining) and a pair of shorts on. I was \'decent\' but still \'virtualy\' naked. Still, I didnt actaly feel like I was naked, since I\'d worn shorts with no underwear plently of times. Now if I only had something nice and long to slip on and hide my \'bits\' but still had that free, nude feeling, then I would be happy.

Later I had a hunt through the wardrobe and found a huge tent like sweartshirt Id forgotten I had. I tried this on and it was comfortably long enough to hide things , but was short enoght and loose enough to still feel nude when wearing it. It had the aded advantage of being quite warm so again I can feel nude without gettng too cold, which can be an unwanted side efect of going nude in the UK. I also felt more comfortabe eating a meal wearing it than nothing at all.

So what do you do in such situations as I have described? Can you still be technicaly be a \'nudist\' when wearing something on the top half for a bit more warmth/comfort?

there have been plenty of occasions when i have wandered about the house in just a long t-shirt or a big sweater, and whilst i\'m not sure if that is really \"naturism\", i do feel that it is in keeping with my personal belief that it is normal and healthy to wear whatever amount of clothing one feels like at home, without feeling restricted into always being fully dressed.

I don\'t really feel that being \'a nudist\' is defined by one\'s clothing policy. People practice naturism to widley varying extents - you don\'t have to be nude 24/7 and you don\'t really have to conform to any set patterns, I don\'t think. Everyone who enjoys the freedom of nudity - no matter the locations in which they enjoy that freedom and the amount of time they spend in that state - is a naturist, in my eyes.

There are times when all of us need to wear some form of clothing - the situation you described being one. It goes without saying, I think, that I don\'t mind people seeing me naked - and if it was socially acceptible to step outside in the nude, then I would. I think that perhaps the majority of us would?

I\'m pretty sure that I wouldn\'t go naked everywhere though, if it were acceptible to do so. It\'d be too cold for most of the year, for a start!

Personally, whatever type of clothing I buy, I always go for things that are comfortable, aren\'t overly tight, and allow me to move freely - so I guess you could say that I like to retain \'the feeling of being naked\' at all times.

There are certain things I just won\'t wear. I hate the feel of denim, for example - I find it heavy, inflexible, and uncomfortable. Weird, huh?  :-)

(More - Is there a restriction on post length now?  ???)

I also try to avoid wearing more than I consider necessary. I\'ve mentioned underwear in other threads - I just can\'t get along with it and I don\'t see any real need to wear it, so I don\'t. Don\'t own any. But the same goes for things like jackets for work, etc. I have suit jackets (obviously) but I try to avoid wearing them... it\'s not really that they\'re uncomfortable - it\'s more that stopping at a reasonably respectible shirt is more comfortable and equally acceptible, in most cases.

To answer your question: I have a long blue towelling robe that I tend to wrap around me when I have to go answer the door, etc. It\'s about as naked as I can be without giving someone an unwelcome show! If it\'s someone who I know\'s comfortable with me being nude (that\'ll be one person then, currently!) I can be out of it again very quickly.

My other cover-up items are a goalkeeper\'s jersey that\'s a size or two too big for me (comes down to my knees, almost) I could probably get away with going out and about wearing that and nothing else, but I\'ve never risked it! I think it may get awkward when I sit down!

I have to say that I always put something on to eat too, when at home. Not sure why, entirely.... perhaps I just don\'t trust myself with a knife and fork! I think it\'s a bit dangerous to cook in the nude (at least I\'m too dangerous to cook in the nude) - so it goes along with that, really.

Hi there, excellent points. I think Noodie sums it up for me but it\'s something I\'ve often thought about. x William

Sometimes I wear clothes around the house for a few hours even though I\'d be perfectly suit going round nude. It\'s all about comfort for me. In the comfort and privacy of my own home, it doesn\'t really matter if all I\'m doing is relaxing, but I\'d preferrably vacation in places where people go around in the nuddy.

A similar response to some of the others - but I tend to feel perfectly warm and comfy in the colder temperatures with just a sweatshirt or hoodie on. I tend not to loose too much body heat through the lower half.

Yes  the upper body is the most important to keep warm, being where all the main organs are. the lower half is less important - though cold legs will inevitably lead to the rest getting cold eventualy because of the circulation system of the body. That said when its mild but not too hot i prefer tshirt and trousers, whereas i woulsd probably be better off wearing t shirt + sweatshirt with shorts. (Thats when having to wear clothes that is!)

I\'m not naked all the time. Like it has already been said, you don\'t always have to be naked to be a nudist. For me I can be comfortable wearing something or being naked. It depends how I feel and how warm it is. I\'m a guy of creature comforts! But if I\'m naked and need to go outside quickly then if it\'s going into the back garden I don\'t bother to put anything on. If it\'s out the front then I\'ll put on a pair of shorts and maybe a t-shirt. I think it looks odd for a guy to be walking around in a long t-shirt or something to that effect without wearing anything below the waist. I think it looks good on girls, be it a long t-shirt or that morning \'I\'m just borrowing one of your casual shirts\' look :==== It all depends on personal preference and comfort.

I couldn\'t agree more.  I used to spend a week at the Eastern Naturist Gathering in Massachusetts.  I would be dressed for a not insignificant portion of the time, because to me it was not so much about being nude but about having the ability to be nude if I wanted to.

To be, being required to be nude is no more free than being required to be covered up.

Excellent point there - I have always believed that naturism is about freedom of choice, and that the choice to wear nothing at all is as valid as any other clothing option. If  lived in a world where nudity was the norm, I\'d probably be in that eccentric minority known as \'textiles\'  Wink

Great last post from Saralee

For me, when the doorbell goes, I usually just grab a pair of jeans, keys, and whichever t-shirt or jumper is closest to hand, as they\'re simply the fastest to get off; we live in one of the middle four of a set of twelve flats, so I need to go along a passage and down stairs to greet the postie. Don\'t feel completely comfortable doing that in a bathrobe... They come straight off again when I\'m back upstairs, though.

Around the flat, I\'ll often wear a t-shirt if it\'s chilly - my right arm has nerve problems if it or my shoulder gets too cold - but very rarely have anything on my lower half except with non-nudist guests. So that still feels kind of nude to me...

Alot of the time if Im at home then Im naked which is easy for me as there is only me and my partner Tracey (and she often joins me anyway). If the door goes we just throw on a dressing gown or whatever is handy and undress again when they leave. If it is someone we know from YBN then we dont always bother dressing and these people are welcome to undress if they wish but nobody is forced to do anything - it is a fairly clothes optional house.

Outside our garden backs onto fields so there is limited chance of being seen and if Im only fetching something I often just throw some shoes on.

It is all about personal choice and whatever makes you comfortable. I know some people who were raised as naturists and still go to clubs etc but are rarely nude at home ! Everyone is different and what is right for one person isnt always right for others but as long as nobody is feeling pressured or embarrased and nobody is hurt then I say do what you want !

If im nude, and i need to go outside my house or dorm room, i will wear a bathrobe, just to coverup to avoid any trouble that might arise from me being nude in public view where it is not accepted.
