I am about to (i sure hope!) close on a 5 acre tract here in rural central/southern Florida.  The property has frontage on the main road through the area, the road to get on it is curvy, the property is currently overgrown with trees and bushes, and has a 3/1 house, a 2/1 house, and 4 efficiencies 2/3 of the way back (real neat 70 year old houses, nice too).  It has a big ol levee along two sides of it too.

Here is my idea: Since the trees make it impossible to see more than 2 feet onto the property, I am planning on putting a gate at the end of the drive (only way in, trees/brush is so thick, you cant walk through it), clearing out all the trees/brush in the main middle part of the property, the land behind the property and up one side has a 30 foot high levee, with a canal behind one, and sugarcane behind the other.  The front side has the main road, and the last side has the brush, and a house that nobody lives in.

Anyway, my idea is a naturist/nudist retreat.  Not really big enough to be a full blown resort, but just a cozy, first name basis place where you can go for a week or a weekend and relax in the buff.  I plan on moving into the 3/1 house, turning the 2/1 into a small clubhouse, and renting out the 4 efficiencies.  I also want to put a fence on the side with the house and behind the brush on the street.  Put in a volleyball court, put in an above ground pool, a small shower enclosure, and a few lounge chairs near the pool.  The 2 acres behind the houses and efficiencies has simply the largest avacado tree I have ever seen, right in the middle of a natural florida shaded hammock with a couple of orange and grapefruit trees.  I plan on leaving that as is, with the exception of a path through it for a small relaxing nature walk area (sand walkway, easy on the wallet and feet).  I figure there won\'t normally be more than 5-10 people there at any given time during the week, perhaps 25-30 on a weekend for day visits.

I plan on catering to a younger crowd and families (though the older crowd is certainly welcomed), as there WILL NOT be any shuffleboard, bocce ball, RV hookups (there are plenty of local RV parks for those interested in that), golf carts, elvis music, or pets.  There is a boat ramp with access to Lake Okeechobee literally, out the front gate and across the street, so people can come and fish as well.  There is also locally, fine wild hog and duck hunting (not my thing, but some like it).  I also will pipe in newer music around the pool, and generally make it as upbeat as possible.  A genuine fun place for people to visit.

I have a rough sketch of the land/usage at this link http://www.floridaunified.com/nudeyland.html , as well as some pictures of the land/houses as it is now.  Yes, it needs work, but the potential is there.  Yall think I should go for it or just move into the house clean up the place and forget the whole idea?

Hey Godzilla, I do think you would have your work cut out for you, but I do see alot of potential there. I think you have a great idea here. I would go for it. With a little work I think you could have a nice resort to relax in the buff at.  I too hope to own a place too. Best of Luck!  Top

What a great idea!!!  I would love to be able to go out and find some property as you have described.  As we have all recognized you do have your work cut out for you, what more could you possibly ask for when it is all said and done.  I think it would be great for a couple of reasons.  #1:  with a focus on catering to the youth and families, that\'s what we\'re all about....promoting the lifestyle in this age group.  #2:  we obviously know that everyone has their first time.  For some, this could be a scary thing....even though it really isn\'t.  I think your cozy set up would be a great place for people to go when this is the case.  There wouldn\'t be a lot of people...at first, and even though it will grow as the place becomes known, it probably won\'t be as populated as a well known resort.  This offers opportunity for those first timers, even for the first few times, to become comfortable with the lifestyle, and be able to share their experience with people more their age!!!  Props to you GZ and good luck!!  JoJo

Thanks for the kind words, folks.  I figure it will take me about a year after closing to get it to the point where I can officially open it.  The house is ready to move into, I just need to paint the outside and bushhog all the growth that has come up around them.  Then, I will be spending every weekend and afternoon for a while cutting back all those trees and bushes so it doesnt look like a jungle like it does now.  Then there is the painting and furnishing of all the other buildings.  Can 2 people do it? I have no doubt, just wont be an overnight thing in the least.  I am looking forward to being able to go out and do all that landscaping in the buff.  First things first, I need to close on it, then I need to bush-hog it, then I need to put in the gate so I can do the rest of the landscaping in the nude, which is most enjoyable.  If this does come to pass, I wouldnt mind being an \'official\' ynai club (as well as AANR too), and would promote one as much as the other, assuming they want me.  The only drawback I see is all the landscaping the place needs (To be more blunt, chainsaw and large LARGE burn piles), and then getting approval to open the place from the county.  It is the least populated county in florida, as well as one of the most rural.  I dont think the locals will be to thrilled about it either.  Cest la vie, if they dont like it, dont come visit.

I just hope I am able to purchase the place like I think I can.  The payments are affordable, and the land is a steal.  I have had it appraised already for $400k, and thats just the land.  I am picking it up for a little over 1/4 of that price.  I have been eyeing it for a while, and I cant go wrong IMO.  If i close on it, I will let you all know.

Well, I am no going to restrict it just to youth, its just going to be gered more for it.  Seeing as how I am not that old myself, might as well model it after a place i would enjoy going to.
