"we surveyed 100 people'', The ignorance on Family Feud

i dont know if any other aussies saw the show yesterday but there was a questions which was, \"we surveyed 100 people on what are theh most popular activties in a nudist colony?\"

now it started okay with a man guessing volleyball which everyone laughed at but was the number two answer.  and as the round progressed so did giggles, the camp jokes by bert newton and the seemingly misunderstanding of nudism and naturism.  by the end of the round it was clear that the general feeling in the audience and contstants was that if you got an answer right you were embarrassed (as if you werent supposed to know) and naturism came off as something that is either an activity to laugh at or be ashamed of.  i was really quite shocked.  it became so immature with everyone demonstrating their lack of understanding or indeed exposure to the topic and to top it off the number six answer was \"sex\".  so then i thought well not only do the studio audience think negatively of naturism/nudism but the general public does too...

at any rate all i could think of was if the topic was, \"what activities do people who follow the lifestyle of Hinduism do?\" no one would be making fun or taking the mickey.  People would probably not have that much of an understanding of Hinduism, like the lack of understanding of naturism, but they wouldnt laugh or make fun of it.

I thought it was a pretty poor effort for the show on the most part but i guess most people thought it was a bit of a laugh.

See this is a prime example of why nudist need to always protray a good image. Since so many people do not understand or don\'t want to understand things like this will continue to happen. Education and positive images of nudists/nude resorts need to be shown to help fight such occurrences. Be proud of being a nudist.

I agree, and this is a difficult task. Especially with the culture our counrty has!

I sometimes watch FF. Didnt catch this ep. Maybe we should write into Channel 9 and give them an explanation of what naturism is REALLY about.
