Tis the time once again where the worlds elite unite and battle in the greatest tournamant in the world. As a Canadian I\'ve been looking forward to this for a while. Since Canada is years and years away from actually making a world cup I tend to cheer for my decendants. I\'m sure everyone has a favourite team outside of their nationality. I\'m really pulling for england to make noise this year but Brazil will be likely to repeat with Ronaldinho (the best player in the game) and a bunch of other one name players and winning about every international tournament since Japan/Korea. The US had made improvements with their system which makes their FIFA ranking really flawed (4th) ahead of everybody but Brazil, Czech Republic and Argentina. But even with that ranking I am not expecting much out of them this year. The teams to look out for that could surprise are Austrialia, Ukraine and possible Iran (all politics aside) that could make some noise thisd tournament.
Anybody have perdictions for World Cup? Or going to be watching it at all?

According to the local bookies, England are pipped to come second this year to Brazil. Highly unlikely in my opinion! But of course would love for it to happen.
USA are definitely not 4th best, there has to be a flaw! Got a load of world cup partys lined up so cant wait!
If England comes top of their group and Germany comes second, or England second and Germany first. We will meet them in the next round, so i hope to god that doesnt happen! I think Germany will be strong this year because they are the hosts.
Bring it on!!

OK Im going with England all the way. Sure Ronaldinho is good, but you have to love Wayne Rooney ( even though he is hurt). And Also as much as I hate to say it Thierry Henry is on a role this year. He could take the French far.

Dont forget we have the robotic Crouch! He scored a hat-trick against Jamaica. But saying that it is only Jamaica and he missed a penalty.
How big is the World Cup in the US? Does it get much of a following? Here everything completly stops! Everywhere looks like a ghost town, unless that is you are in a pub!

The world cup is kinda becoming bigger here in Australia. I think the Aussie\'s will go alright until they meet Brazil, but you never know what can happen.

Crouch? Muppet! As for everything completely stops! , I think you\'ll find that\'s only in little Britian, young gun. And no, it isn\'t sour grapes because Scotland aren\'t there .. again..., but nobody in the UK can deny that the English media appear to have forgotten that not everybody really gives a fig leaf about the boy blubber, or how Engerland do in the World Cup. Correct me if I\'m wrong but apparently Sky Sports showed the teams bags being loaded onto the plane for an hour a couple of days ago ... get a life, people!! Tips for the eventual winners .. nope, I won\'t say what I read on a t-shirt of a young girl here 2 days ago ... \'anybody but THEM \' across her (rather impressive! ) chest. My money is on Argentina or Brazil, more likely to be the samba boys however. Statistics say the South Americans always do well when the World Cup is held in Europe. DGC

Personaly I don\'t really care who wins. I\'m a Rugby League fan my self, but good luck to all the teams that made it to the world cup.

Hi Doug, and wot statistics will they be then ?! Unfortiunately for you I do quite like watching football ( and footballers ) and thought that wasn\'t right so checked out the proper statistics. Are you ready.... World Cup Finals in Europe : 9 South American winners in Europe : 1 ( Brazil, 1958 ) South American losing finalists in Europe : 2 ( Argentina, 1990 and Brazil, 1998 ) I do quite fancy Brazil this time, but not because of any great history in Europe. Anyways, get it right Please let us enjoy ourself while we can, and loads of folk in England WILL stop everything to watch. It will probably all end in tears for England, and then you can have your fun :\'(. Sara

I admit I made an error, I should have said South American countries do well when the games are held outwith the Americas & I\'m taking the info from what I hear on Radio 5 Live\'s Through The Night ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/sport/). On a Friday between 02:30 & 03:30 there\'s a football phone in, usually with one contributor from either north America or Africa & the other is a guy called Tim Vickerage who is based in Brazil. The guy knows all there is to about all aspects of the game in South America & seldom is stumped when asked obscure questions about players anywhere in South America & it was he who stated that the winners will be either Argentina or Brazil just going on past history. But I\'ll bow to you having researched the facts then agree with you that your stay will end in tears, even with Boy Blubber now being permitted to travel. One man doesn\'t make a team, not even in England\'s case. DGC

The world cup in the US... not a big deal, really... in fact, I wouldn\'t even know about it except that in Wal-Mart they were advertising the accompanying video game. I\'m sure people who are more into soccer/football would pay a lot more attention, but it\'s really not very well publicised... basically it goes unannounced and not a WHOLE lot of people pay attention to it. some definitely do, don\'t get me wrong, but it\'s not like the Super Bowl or anything.

Not going to be watching the world cup, but I\'m sure we\'ll read about it after the fact. Dealing with the world cup though, the screenprinting company that Justin and I work for are printing t-shirts for it. They have a soccer ball in black with all of the countries listed around the ball with Germany and USA bold. The rest of the lettering and such are green!!! Maybe we\'ll see them on TV!!! Best of luck to both teams!
