Naked in Bali

Hi all

I went to Bali last week for a holiday to wind down and relax a bit before the mad rush begins at work during the final sprint to Christmas.

There are no nude or clothing optional beaches on Bali or in Indonesia as it is against the religion and seen as offensive. Even topless for the girls is frowned upon. However, since moving to Kuala Lumpur and subsequently Singapore from the UK about 9 months ago, I haven't been able to get my all over tan on, which is almost criminal considering the weather out here! So I was adamant to find my own little space while I was out there and I managed just that.

If you head south, you will come to a place call Uluwatu. There is a fantastic beach here and it's quite difficult to reach it, which is why it's so quiet and deserted. I walked along the beach for a while to see first if there were any other people using the beach as I intended and also who were on the beach and where so I could avoid offending anyone. After a bit of walking I found a spot between some rocks after a headland which was deserted and fairly well hidden from anyone who might be walking along the beach while still catching the sun. So I set myself up and had a few fantastic hours of tanning au naturel and swimming in the warm sea! I got a bit lost on the walk back though as I'd come down a track on the cliff face and couldn't find it on the way back so ended up scrambling along the cliff face for 2 hours trying to find my way back. Not fun and if I went back I'd definitely see if I could find an easier way of getting down to the beach.
