What have you been listening to lately? Lay it on me. Give me videos, sites, what have you.

I've actually been on a jam band kick lately. For those of you not familiar with the term "jam band" it's a non-mainstream band that spends large parts of their songs improvising and often incorporating different styles including rock, jazz, electronica, funk, world music, bluegrass, and much more.

Bands I've been into lately are Umphrey's McGee, Dopapod, Lotus, Papadosio, and Timbre Coup. Many of their recordings can be found on archive.org for free if you're interested.

I've been listening to Flying Lotus, Aesop Rock and The Necks to name a few
I also make my own music, which ranges from jazz to experimental electronica to hiphop. Just released my fifth album. Have a look if you're interested http://jamesannesley.bandcamp.com/

Cool stuff, I'm really liking the Out of the Darkness live album. How often do you get to play gigs? Ever play outside of Australia?

This thread has been read over 150 times and there's only 3 other responses? I KNOW there's gotta be more than 3 people on here that listen to music!  Smiley

What are you all listening to?

I listen to music. One band I just discovered (or rediscovered) is a band from Taiwan called Chthonic. They are a black metal band that incorporates Taiwanese history, culture, musical instruments, and language into their lyrics and sound. Go to youtube and look up the video "TAKAO", make sure you get the Taiwan version, and you'll see what I mean. The lyrics are all in Taiwanese (a dialect of Hokkien, a Chinese language). If you don't like metal, you probably won't like it. I just wanted to post something relevant to the thread.

I love music and have a wide taste although for the most part I listen to a lot of hardcore, metal, pop punk and dubstep mainly.

Two bands I have recently discovered that I like are City Lights and Chunk! No Captain Chunk!

Both those bands might not be to everyone's taste but I think they're great!

Hey, just found this response. Thanks for listening! I generally gig about once a fortnight, but haven't been any further from home than New Zealand so far. I pan to change that in the near future, but international touring is not that easy, and America is notoriously difficult.

Volbeat.  Heavy metal meets Johnny Cash.  Enough said.
