In your opinion, what do you consider the most Naturist friendly country in the world? Which country do you think does the most to promote the lifestyle?

I was thinking about going on holiday this somewhere, and i thought it would be nice to have the option of going somewhere where i can wear as little clothes for as little amount of time possible.  The nude beaches of Portugal or Spain seemed appealing, however i did remember hearing some skandinavian countires tend to be good for nudity as well.  It got me thinking of where the most nude friendly country is.  I think it makes for a good topic.

I agree with you, that Spain and the Scandinavian countries are the best places to practice naturism in Europe. Having visited Spain I can vouch for its positive attitude towards naturists. As far as I am aware it is a fundamental human right to be naked in public anywhere in Spain. Although this right is rarely exercised anywhere apart from on the beach, I think it is quite extraordinary and probably makes Spain theoretically the most naturist-friendly country in the world.

Being a Spaniard myself, I consider my country a good place for naturism. In general law supports the practice of naturism but from my point of view the general attitude can differ from Scandinavian countries. In my opinion these countries have developed an idea of respect as the basis or fundation of everyday life. Spain is not such a tolerant country in comparison. It depends on the citizens' mind

Europe is rather free.  Probably around the mediteranian.  Greece has a lot of coast line and islands.

I've heard that nudism is tolerated on beaches on some Greek islands. Greece probably isn't the most naturist-friendly country though.

France sounds fairly open, in some places.

There's an old thread that might be informative:  Best Europe nudist country

Germany.

But isn't it sadly ironic how the hottest places on Earth are where if you went nude you would be arrested or worse stoned to death.

I would vote for Germany, Spain and Greece. In Germany, it is not uncommon to see naked people in parks even in city centres (Munich, Cologne and most notably the capital, Berlin). Most of the lakes and rivers in Berlin and at the Baltic sea are clothing optional, and in saunas, it is not even a question whether you should take off your bathing suit http://active-naturists.blogspot.com/2008/07/active-naturists-in-berlin.html

Spain has lots of nudist beaches too, including a couple in central locations in Barcelona; I took part in the world naked bike ride in Madrid, and all people on the streets seemed to be fine with that – we even went to buy water and food naked! http://active-naturists.blogspot.com/2009/06/world-naked-bike-ride-madrid-2009.html

And although Greece doesn't have too many 'official' nudist beaches, nudity is tolerated pretty much anywhere outside urban areas.

I've decided to leave it for another year before going on holiday.  I had planned on going on a bit holiday around some of the Skandinavian countries and even heading to Iceland.  I still want to do that, so even though nobody has mentioned Sweden, Norway or even Finland as nudisty places (i think) i will see what sort of lifestyle some of the rural areas have when it comes to nuding up.  I know Finland is quite good, and Sweden (where i plan on spending most of my time) is quite nude friendly.  Who knows.  It'll be good regardless.

I am actually surprised to read that Spain is as nude friendly as you suggested Kirill.  I had heard of people going to Barcelona and stripping off, even though it is not illegal the vast majority of people choose to remain clothed.  Being nude in a city like that is not bad, however you may be viewed as more of a prude or an exhibitionist if you did that and there weren't alot of people doing it as well in which case i'd rather leave it to the nude beaches.

Some interesting answers.  Keep them coming if you know of other places.
