Spencer Tunick in Manchester

Spencer Tunick is holding a photoshoot in Manchester over the weekend of 1st-2nd May. Here's some blurb from the website:

"Over one remarkable weekend in May, Tunick will make a series of photographs and a new film of his multiple-site installation in Salford and Manchester. Volunteers will be taken, via a caravan of heated buses, to eight locations over the weekend of 1 - 2 May and asked to pose naked while Tunick creates the installation. The resulting photographic and film work will the be shown at The Lowry from 12 June - 26 September as part of the exhibition, Everyday People."

I don't know if it's great art, but it's certainly a good excuse to get naked in the middle of a big city which isn't something you can do any day of the week so I've signed up for Sunday. If you fancy joining in the sign-up page is here:

He only needs a 1000 people and places are on a first-come-first-served basis so even for England in Spring I expect they'll all be taken soon. Hopefully I might see some of the UK YNAIers there?

At first I thought we just got a confirmation email on the 26th or heard nothing from them:

If you have been successful you will receive an email from us on Monday 26 April will full details of the installation weekend. If you don’t hear back from us after this point, then we’re sorry but it means that you haven’t been allocated a place.

But now I think you might be right.  Either way, we'll know when/if we receive that email  

I'm rather excited!  I have very little experience of social nude situations.  It'll be a memorable moment when me and my (female!) friend strip off together!  This is what an Art History Master's gets you from the University of Manchester! lol

Ergh, we gotta arrive there by 3:30am and wait in line.  This is gonna be painful.  I'm still determined tho.

You should arrive by 3.30 am at the latest in order to register for the event - rain or shine! Remember, it’s going to be busy and it is strictly first come, first served.

Damn, that's epic.  I'd offer you a place to crash but my g/f has an essay due in after that weekend that's already driving her crazy (7000 words), poor lass.

I'm really looking forward to having some permanent, artistic record of my naked self!  I just hope I'm awake enough to appreciate it.

OMG it was cooold!  It was really worth it though!  I'm yet to find myself in any of the online pictures I've seen so far, but hopefully I will soon

Not sure if I'll come to the afterparty on Sunday, we'll see, would be nice to have some naked friends.

Sounds like a great experience you had there, rumdiary;  congratulation for being part of it  !  I just tried the »upcoming«-link on Spencer's webside, but it doesn't work, so I'd like to ask, does anyone here know whether he's coming to the States, for a nudie photo shoot, anytime soon?  Jennifer and I would love to be part of it (and so would our little guy  ).  Aaron

From what I've found, the only event he has planned this year is for the UK again at the 'Big Chill' festival (which has got me scanning the line-up to see it'd be worth paying for the weekend ticket, heheh).

If you're looking to involve your son you should know there was an 18 years of age limit, atleast there was here in the UK.  It's stupid, but then again we live in a society full of stupid people who will vote for the Conservatives (the UK version of the Republicans) this Thursday in the National Election, lol, where stupidity is worshipped and corruption is endemic!  Hooray! /rant

I've started properly looking for local naturist clubs now that I've had the courage to take part in Spencer Tunick's exhibition, it's been an eye-opening experience for sure.  I hope you can get involved 'Aaron Stern'.
