Hello All,

As we've been having such AMAZING weather over the past few days, I'm thinking of heading up to Studland Bay in Dorset tomorrow. I managed to get down to my local clothing optional beach (Budleigh Salterton) for a few hour this afternoon and confirm that summer really is here (seriously, nothing beats the feeling of hot sun on your skin, a warm breeze, and cool sea water, does it?) But there's no beach quite as wonderful as Studland, in the UK.

Just wondered whether anyone from YNAI fancied it? A few of us met up down there in summer '07 and it would be good to do it again. It's quite easy to get at, if you've never been before. You can find details of how to get there, etc., at: http://nuff.org.uk/factfile/content/view/48/48/

Temperature is predicted to hit 24c up there tomorrow, by the way.  Cool

Would love to, but it's just WAY too far! So, on a similar note, if anyone fancies meeting up at Morfa, I'll be back for more after the perfect weather today...

hmm well not tomorrow - heading to crewe with a friend... but once I move back to wiltshire (6th June), I have 3 weeks or so before going to Germany, and I fully plan on going to studland at least once in that time - so if you keep me posted on when you're going, maybe we could meet up?

Also, in my research for visiting studland, I looked up how to get there by bus - and the NUFF page you link to had old information I think - The bus numbers have changed, and I don't think they go from poole station any more...

No, I think it's now a Number 30. It's the one that goes to Swanage, anyway. Still stops at FP6 too.

It was extremely busy today. Finding a spot to park in on the Ferry Road was a bit of a challenge! Glorious weather though - hope it stays this way for the rest of the summer!

I'm away for the next three weekends now, so I don't think I'll be back there again before you go to Germany. Have fun, when you go!

Shame I didn't read this earlier! I was there today, and spent most of last weekend there! It has been fantastic - I have even been for a swim in the sea, which I love doing, but will admit was a bit chilly!!

Went to Studland two weekends ago for the first time based on recommendations here. It was a very nice beach and a beautiful weekend. The water was a bit cold, but the weather was fantastic.

For the benefit of others: that weekend was the opening weekend for the 30 minute bus schedule for the summer season. Be forewarned that the trip back can be really, really long due to the ferry crossing. If you take the bus, be sure to budget time (hours?) for the return trip to Bournemouth.  I found the bus didn't keep the schedule by any means in either direction.  If you want to simply cross via ferry by foot, the FKK section is a 20 minute or so walk down the beach once on the other side.

Cheers!

British buses never run to timetable.

It is possible to get to Studland without using the ferry, if you're driving. You turn left at Corfe Castle and on through Studland village. Obviously, if you're coming from Bournemouth then it's a long way around. Can still be quicker than waiting for the ferry on really busy days though (only problem is that you may encounter a traffic jam waiting to turn onto the main road at Corfe Castle on the way back!)

I'll revive this thread for the new summer! I am considering heading down to Studland tomorrow as the weather is looking ok and I have a day off. This will be my first beach visit. Here is the local forecast for you to check out: http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/2774?&search=swanage&itemsPerPage=10&region=world&area=Swanage

It's not guaranteed to be good weather so for a 2 hour drive each way it could be a bit risky! What do you think about the weather and any tips about the beach for me?

Hope the weather was good, if you went. It was a bit cloudy here in Exeter today and has been drizzling this evening...

I might head down there on the August Bank Holiday, if the weather is good and I can actually park! It does get tremendously busy. Busy every weekend between now and then.

A beach buddy would be good. I didn't go today though, I woke up hoping for hot sunshine, but it was dull and overcast. Hopefully we have another warm spell soon!
