Map of the Midwest in the United States:
Like people know how to read one of those things anymore Sadly you're all too correct..... From another non-naturist forum I'm a member of: Most Americans do not know how to read a map"Most Americans do not know how to read a map" That was the opinion of the man I talked to at the AAA Office. He works with AAA members in the trip planning office where people will come in and say I want to know how to drive from Richmond VA to Atlanta. He says that the majority of the people who come in to see him have never looked at a road atlas and do not know where our major cities are in relation to each other.
Many of these people are college graduates and professional people but are completely confused when it comes to cross country travel.
I think the people at AAA could be helpful to tell the members which routes have construction, heavy traffic, lots of turns, stop lights, long commerical strips, etc and which ones are easier through roads. But generally the average person should learn how to use things like www.mapquest.com and read an atlas. Don't you think?
I support the people using the services at AAA but they should be able to read a map and learn where cities and states are too.Isn't geography still a requirement in high school?

Ya, but who said any of these people are high school students? These are older people who can't remember high school Who here is a member of AAA?? I am since I got my driver's license...... in Minnesota it was worth it since you're almost guaranteed to have a vehicle that doesn't start at least once per winter, plus the fact it's real easy to slide off icy roads..... In Arizona I'm waiting for the day when I blow a tire on the freeway on one of these 110+ days..... never realized how often that happened out here till I moved here. It's like an obstacle course on the freeways sometimes due to the tire parts all over the place...... it would be nice to be able to just make a phone call to get the tire changed..... while I sit in my air-conditioned SUV.....

I have car insurance that takes care of that stuff, and I use MS Streets and Trips with my bluetooth gps receiver, plus I have a gps unit, and I usually get the newest atlas when I go on big roadtrips

A significant number of people are killed each year changing tires on the side of the freeway. It's just not a smart thing to do. A lot of times, the police/sheriff will change it for you. Within city boundaries here, if you have car trouble on a freeway, you are towed immediately whether you like it or not. I've never had run-flat tires, but they sound good in theory. Unfortunately the people who have them hate them because replacements are so expensive and often take a couple days to arrive if you're not in a major city. (Some types require special mounting equipment that only a few specialists have.) If they were more popular, they'd be kept in stock at more tire stores. You may also sacrifice some fuel economy and handling because they weigh a bit more.
