I just want to know why, when you see some of those "naked tribal" shows on TV... Why do they blur out stuff on the naked people sometimes, but the next time you see the same show the parts aren't blurred out???  Can't we make up our minds?  I also find it interesting that it's okay to show those "savages" totally naked.  It's like they're not really human like us "civilized" people.... Who came up with the idea that they're not human and that they're not just like us????

Krissy, it could be due to the programme showing at different times of day. So before or after the watershed that the channel has in place.

Great points Cooper

Actually that is not much of the issue in the states. We do not hold to the watershed as the rest of the world does. It depends on the channel, the day, the time to some extent for some things, etc. I have seen one channel show 'aboriginal nudity' @ 3pm on a monday, and have the same series with blurs @ 3pm saturday. I have not found a rhyme nor reason.
You do not even take into account the shoe size of the staff currently on shift at the station, temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction, the current Dollar-Euro exchange rate and the result of at least three dice rolls?

Ahhh too true guys. I also forgot it depending on which side of the mouth the tongue was on Cheesy

Sidenote: I used to coach track and field, the highjump, and had a guy who was clearing higher than everyone else, but one day he kept on crashin. I noticed he usually had his tongue sticking out a little on his left when he would usually jump, but today it was on the right, told him to stick his tongue out the left side, he looked confused, I told him why, he tried it and cleared easily Sometimes it's the little things that make a difference Cheesy

Who came up with the idea that they're not human and that they're not just like us????

I've thought about that very same question for quite a while now. I remember watching some program not too long ago that was specifically dealing with the taboo of nudity. In fact I think the show was called Taboo. Anyway, they were talking about the differences in how various cultures around the world view nudity. When they showed footage of what they call "indigenous nudity" they only blurred the genitals of children. When they went to a nudist resort here in the U.S. everything was blurred or strategically filmed to not show anything below the neck. I thought it was odd that somehow us "civilized" white folk are different than those dirty jungle dwellers. Yeah I don't get it either.

That is very weird.  What I don't get is their so called "Please think of the children" thing going on.  I think I know what episode you're talking about.  It was the Taboo where the strange places to live were a rat temple in India, Lake Como (popular nudist resort), and a graveyard in the Philippines.  Funny thing is, the nudist resort even appealed to me more so than the rat temple or graveyard, which was a very close 2nd.  Back to the story, they showed a girl that was about 6-7 years old and they blurred her chest. Trust me, there needs to be a lot to track down those that would harm kids sexually but blurring a prepubescent chest isn't going to stop pedophilia.

Another strange show was about two British men who visit some indigenous tribe, and eventually wearing the same dress as the tribe, a.k.a., nude.  I think it was called "Mek Tribe" but for some reason, they cenosored the nudity of the two host.  I think you're describing the show I mentioned because I do remembering them censoring young kids.

Will Western civilization get their priorities straight?  I'm not sure.

Unfortunately, I think we're just uncovering that racism and bigotry is still very much alive in the world.  Only this time it's between the civilized and uncivilized... I mean, if you have to blur the chest of a 6-7 year old white girl, it can only be because she is "civilized", and therefore, we can't let you see those tiny nipples she has because that would be wrong... however, if you don't also blur the chest of a 6-7 year old native girl growing up in the jungle (or wherever), then you're saying that she somehow is not as "civilized" as the first.... I like what Steve says, obviously they're just "dirty jungle dwellers".  Oh, the times I've dreamed about growing up in the jungle... seriously... So I guess you can all call me the dirty jungle girl... Smiley

This is one reason I really like nudism.  If we're all naked, you can tell who's male and who's female, but you can't see who's rich, poor, blue collar, white collar, doctor, lawyer, and I've never seen skin color make a difference either.  We just accept each other because we're all people with a common interest, and the rest is irrelevant!

I agree, except it IS easy to figure out who is the mafia hitman/rapper wannabe/etc, they are the ones that are naked except for the gold chains, usually with a gal with HUGE implants on his arm Smiley (I have seen them before at every resort I have been too, not often but at least once Cheesy )

Ohhhh ya, and the one time I saw the couple that owned the $4.5M RV, the guy looked like a suit even without a suit Cheesy But they were nice anyway Smiley

Can't say I've really noticed anything like those two examples here in Colorado... Maybe I just haven't noticed, but, other than tatoos, I can't say I've seen chains or huge implants or a $4.5M RV... I'll have to be more observant! Smiley  We just poor folk here! Smiley

Will Western civilization get their priorities straight?  I'm not sure.

I think we are thinking of two different episodes of the same show. I recall the one you're talking about but the one I was referring to was specifically dealing with cultural attitudes towards nudity. Come to think of it I've seen the program a number of times but have never seen that one particular episode since the original airing. Perhaps they received too many complaints.

That's exactly the point I was trying to make and I'm totally with you on that dream of growing up in the jungle. I still dream about living that way when I see those shows.

Although the dream of growing up/living in the jungle is certainly about being naked... I think it's a dream of a simpler life too.... Too much going on in life sometimes....

I have often thought of going off with my son for a year and living in a grass hut somewhere, just hunt and fish and grow Smiley
