I had a somewhat bad experience yesterday:  Jennifer and I were waiting at Newark Airport (New Jersey) for our flight back home to Los Angeles;  I did some online searches/homework and then switched to YNAI to catch the latest posts.  All of a sudden I hear this lady behind us say, "Ann, this guy is watching kiddie porn!".  I didn't pay any attention since I don't regard YNAI as pornography-related in any way, shape or form, but then she turned to me and said, "Young man, are you watching kiddie porn?  There are children around here at the airport, I don't think this is appropriate!", and I replied, "No, madam, I'm reading some posts on a nudie forum!", and she looked puzzled, so I explained to her what YNAI is all about, but she still pointed to my avatar and said, "If that's not a naked child, I don't know what you're talking about!", and I explained to her it's my avatar, a photograph my dad had taken when I was three years old.  But she was still somewhat agitated, so Jennifer stepped in, saying, "Aaron, just show her your CA driver license!", and I did, and this busy bee calmed down a bit, but still had to remark this wasn't appropriate in a public place like an airport waiting area.  Maybe she's right, so I just wanted my fellow YNAI-nudies to know about my experience, and be careful when reading YNAI-posts etc. in a public place.  Aaron

This woman was obviously being nosy and was more than likely more interested in starting problems than having a little respect. That's like seeing someone, in a public place while they're on their laptop, read someone's Facebook page for over a minute and then accuse them loudly of being a stalker. You did nothing wrong.

Yeah I agree, some people are just out for trouble and no good.  If you've done nothing wrong, don't worry about it, as I say.

I actually had people looking over my shoulder @ a naturist resort once when I was working on some of my art, silly lookie loos.

But ya, some people (specially old ladies I have noticed) seem to have nuthin better to do then snoop on people and then condemn them

that just sucks and damn that women is rude.  She was the one looking over your shoulder so it was wrong that you had to justify yourself for something she obviously couldn't and didn't understand.

I'm going to lend some half-hearted support to the woman's position, though not to her accusation.

She has a valid concern that a child might see an image on someone's laptop that might be inappropriate or might be used to entice a child. You can't expect the general public to make a distinction between acceptable naturist images and inappropriate images, and some parents wouldn't want their children catching a glimpse of any type of nudity on a stranger's computer.

I think Brandon makes some good points. On the one hand I can fully understand her seeing a picture of a young boy and rightly or wrongly associating it with child pornography and being concerned but on the other hand she should have minded her own business and not been looking at what you were doing on screen even if you were in a public place. She should not have been snooping. But no you have done absolutely nothing wrong in my view.

Personally, I think it's perfectly acceptable to read naturist forums, etc, in public places. I have done so quite a few times myself and someone would have to be looking pretty hard at your screen to get offended by any nude avatars, etc.

Having said that, I wouldn't access naturist photo galleries, etc, in a public place - as much out of respect for the people featured in them as the people around me.

Unfortunately, some places block anything naturist related on their public WiFi (McDonald's springs to mind). At Charles de Gaulle Aiport though, I remember being able to access YNAI and YBN on their public terminals! Didn't even need my own laptop with me.

Censorship can be ridiculous. I was staying at a hotel in Sydney two months ago and using the hotels computers. Even the words gay and lesbian were censored as they were deemed inappropriate. Absolutely riculous.

I can't remember which airport it was here (either Minneapolis or Phoenix), but I was travelling this past summer and they had some pretty serious filters in place..... now, I could see if it was a public computer, but I'm using MY computer and should be able to access anything I want to. I typically don't log on to naturist sites when I'm in airports, although I do have a 3M privacy filter I can put over my laptop screen to "protect" those who might be offended.....

Well you have to think of things from their perspective, imagine the headlines ("Airport peddles porn via the internet, news at 11"), so that is likely why they block even private computers on their network.

She was obviously being nosy... It is none of her business what people do on their laptops... But I do believe their is a way of hidden the avatars, someone posted something about that a while ago, so that may save you the hastle next time.
