Following on from the successes of Stoke Waterworld, Alton Towers and last year's Splashdown event, the South's Ultimate Waterpark, Splashdown in Poole, has agreed to open its doors to naturists once again. The waterpark is located in Poole's Tower Park Leisure Complex and has a website at: http://www.splashdownpoole.co.uk/This should be a really good event with (hopefully!) lots of younger people attending. Last year was tremendous. WhatChoice of 12 fantastic rides (including some utterly terrifying ones, I must say. The vertical drop from the tower is not for the faint of heart!) There is also Buccaneer Beach Lagoon and Landings play area for the little ones. Slide side cafe. Tanning facilities available at extra charge. Splashdown is an action waterpark - there is no adult swimming pool. It is much more fun than just swimming. Both indoor and outdoor sections should be open, once again. WhenThe swim takes place on 11 July 2009. Arrive 18.30 for changing Rides open 19.00 Rides close 21.30 Change time till 22.00 PricesAdults £11 BN/INF Members Adults £13 Non members Under 21 £6 Students (with valid NUS card) - £6 Under 5 free Family of 4* - £28 *based on 2 adults and 2 children 5 and over. Payment details will be announced soon, but BN office will be handling payment and tickets Pre booked entry onlyOn the following day (Sunday, 12 July 2009) there will be a BN beach day at Studland (which is not far away!), with all sorts of interesting and fun things going on - so it should be a good weekend once again. More details should be posted at: http://www.british-naturism.org.uk/ and http://www.naturist-events.co.uk, as they become available. Please call BN on (01604) 620361 if you have any enquiries. Hope that lots of people will go!

I just had a look at the Splashdown website, it looks awesome. I also found this description about one of the rides! Short sharp shock treatment from the Baron - 8 metres of menacing vertical drop! Not for those with ill fitting swimmers - it can take more than just your breath away! Shouldn't be a problem!

I often wonder about events like this, i take it this is a clothes free environment only? as in no textiles allowed? or is it a case of if you want to be nude then you won't be stopped.
Again the issue with security might be a problem too for the younger people that are attending. What about staff? what's to say there are not any undesirable staff members who may be perverts or are they encouraged to bare all too?
Other than the above concerns, i completely love the idea of the day and would personally love to visit there and experience it. Only problem is Dorset is a bit too far from home.
Anybody from here likely to be attending?

I can't 100% answer your first questions, but regarding undesirables working at the leisure centre. I was a lifeguard, and everyone who worked in the leisure centre had a police background check run on them to make sure there is no bad history. The naturist swims that I have been to, the staff remain clothed. I imagine it's more of a case of being able to see who the staff are.
I really do want to attend this, it isn't too far away from me either. But it is so far in advance at the moment. I only tend to plan my life days ahead! I don't have a clue where I'll be or what my plans are. Anybody else going to be there?

Actually never realised they did those checks on staff at leisure centers. The name of the check is on the tip of my tongue but for the life of me i forget what it is. Sure it begins with D

It is a clothes free environment, yes. Naturist swims inevitably are. I'm not really sure where your security concerns come from. It's a ticket-only event organised by BN. They will have the names and addresses of every attendee on file. I do recall, last year, that some guy was pleading to be let in without a ticket, about a half hour from the end. He even offered the guy on the door £50 . Needless to say, he was not let in... Security at this sort of event is always very good. It's much more of a 'controlled' environment than, say, the beach. Perhaps less so than a club though. The lifeguards will all be dressed. Aside from the fact that finding naturist lifeguards would be pretty difficult, they do also need to stand out. They will all have been CRB checked. Not sure yet whether I can make it this year, but I hope to be there again!

Ahhhh Man, I wanna go!
Ahhh I know we seriously need to get a water park in the U.S. to rent out a fun park to naturists either on East coast (tampa) or West coast (socal). I think those places would be our best bets. but speaking of fun skinnydipping, the AANR in the US is working with Guiness Book of World Records to set a new world record this summer, by having the most number of people across the nation, skinnydip, at predetermined and verified locations. I dont have specific date yet, but i do know it will be official for places invited, with counters from Guiness present, and during National Nude Recreation week. stay tuned

A little update for everyone: This was my first ybn event and it was really well attented with people of all ages from toddlers to people in their 70's. I wholely recommend this event next year to anyone who might be considering going. I was a bit nervous at first but as soon as I started going down the slides and starting meeting people those nerves vanished. When we first got in the water they started playing some music and their first choice of song was Ida Maria - I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked! If you dont know the song: http://www.youtube.com/v/Pm84z2W61xg&rel=0 I think the funnist moment for me was on the rapids which you have to ride in a rubber ring, a guy came out from the tunnel and turned over and all you could see was his bum in the middle of his ring floating along for a few seconds! The only problem with splashdown is that i was cold for a lot of the time because a few of the rides are outside plus the water temperature seems quite low, however that didnt put a damper on the night. And when they say there is no adult pool, there really isnt anywhere to swim, it is all slides and flumes. The staff at the beginning were obviously unsure of where to look or how to act but they all relaxed into it as time went by. I was planning on going to the beach day on the suday after but the weather didnt really play ball and I didnt fancy being cold all day again! Did anyone make it to either of these events? I cant wait now for another event!

I hear they had really good weather up there today. A couple of people have said that they're now suffering with sunburn! Didn't make it to Splashdown myself this year, for a number of reasons. Will probably be at Springwood though, if you're going to that.
